Imagine David, a young shepherd boy running full tilt to the feared giant known as Goliath. This giant of a man who would be described as a 'ubermensch' or super soldier. He had effectively brought fear into the Israeli army, had them trembling at his daily taunts.
David, was not afraid of the giant, in fact, he ran towards this next challenge. What drives a man to be so fearless? Having lived in Africa most of my life, and camped in the bush many times, I have encountered my fair share of lions and other wild life, enough to know that I would not want to tackle a lion with a slingshot! David had been taught by God to defeat lions and bears with a slingshot. He was brought up fighting off wild animals to defend his fathers sheep.
When confronted with the giant, David knew his testimony had prepared him to face this next challenge. David also knew that this next challenge unlocked his future. David was not afraid of his future, because he had a testimony of God backing him up in his past! Has God come through for you in your past?
I am totally confident that God has never let you down. When facing your future, run to it with all glee. Grab a hold of your future and bring it back into your present. Your future is normally bigger than you, so look to the ant. The ant goes out and finds a large food source - way too big for him to carry back to his nest in one go. The ant, takes as much as he can carry back and then returns for more. Grab your future, one piece at a time, and bring it back into your present. Run to your future - remember it is God that will carry you through to Victory. When the enemy comes at you like a flood, the Lord will raise up a standard...!
David's victory opened the doors that led to becoming the King of Israel...and the longest serving King too. Life for a simple shepherd boy changed when he ran to his future. Have you been terrorized into inaction by some challenge? It is that very challenge that will unlock the next level in your life. Run at it full tilt. Remind fear, that you are in covenant with the God that cannot lie!
